Hi !
My old Jackson Dinky Professional MIJ is mounted with Takeuchi JT580 non LoPro (steel plate it seems) from 1993.
Simply black version Nothing fancy
Trem edges were worn, so i gave them a more curved shape, to avoid grinding again pivot studs (witch were swapped).
It worked right.
BUT as the edges were worn, scale length was already shorter than factory. By around 1mm+. I still could intonate right.
I made a final fatal error : i loosened neck screws with strings attached, to "push" the neck into the pocket.
It worked, i got more sustain ... but i lost scale length AGAIN (something i was not realizing before).
Now some of my saddle blocks are hitting the rear plate ... no more margin
So basically now, i have two options :
Shim the neck pocket to push neck back to it's factory position (simple and cheap)
OR
swap JT580 for another trem
Is it worth it swapping trem on such old and over used guitar ?
Or better push the neck back to it's place and use this guitar to death without swapping anything ?
Frets are in good shape, EM81 working nicely, some buzzing at the locking nut (probably change it soon) ... but this guitar still rocks anyway
Thanks for your help !
