Old Floyd Rose Question

<font color="yellow">At what point did the Floyd Rose start to use the "Collared" bar vice the older screw-in type [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

The reason I'm asking is that on the 86' SD Strat I got, the bar is a screw in type. The only thing on the trem as far as writing is "Floyd Rose" on the upper part of the trem.

Just a curious question.

I am not sure what year the change was, but the floyd you have installed matches 86 specs.

I think they did the screw in type til the late 80s or early 90s.

In 89 the collared bar was available on the Schaller Floyds, so probably not before then, but I'm not sure when Schaller started putting them on the OFR's.

The retrofit kits were available by '90 at the latest. I changed mine as soon as they were avilable, but went back shortly after.

I remember buying a collared Floyd in 1987. (still have it!)
Right after I got my first Jackson.
