This may sound silly.... if I want to put a 22 fret neck 25.5 scale equipped with a locking nut on a string thru body and just not lock the strings at the nut, the guitar will intonate and be fine, correct ?

should be ok. just make sure you leave the clamps off completely, or finger tighten them because they rattle if loose. -

As long as the body takes a 22 fret neck, yes.
I think stewmac sells a graphite-type nut that replaces locking nuts.

Yup, a Floyd nut either needs to be locked down or replaced completely. There's no middle of the road there.My goal in life is to be the kind of asshole my wife thinks I am.Comment
