• Dimarzio wiring question

I have a Super3 in my Model 3 (whoa... just noticed that pattern) and I haven't gotten it properly wired in with the switch and singles, just ran it with a volume to make sure I had it wired right, and it ain't right! Sounds like it's working as a volume for one coil. Right now I have the bare and green wires to ground, the red one to hot, and the black and white soldered together (the guy that sold it to me had it like that, I was assuming those are jsut for coil tapping). Anybody know how I should run it so it works right? Thanks.

    Link to Dimarzio Wiring Diagram

If the other PUs are non-Dimarzios, you may need to switch the red and green wires. (Red to ground, green to hot.)

actually the way you have it is right, so it may be a phase thing like shreddermon suggested.

Yeah, the way it's wired right now is exactly what the Dimarzio diagram says, which confuses the crap outa me. There is no switch in the guitar right now and the singles are not wired at all, so I'm not thinking the phase deal is the problem.

I thought Dimarzios (without a coil tap) were: red & white together, green hot, black ground.

nope. You kinda have your DiMarzio/Duncan schematics mixed.

DiMarzios- White goes to Black, Red (live) Green (ground)

Duncans- RED goes to White, Black (live) Green (ground)

You're right about the Dimarzios though.

Alright, now I'm confused. It's easy to get them mixed up. I don't exactly install pickups every day. But then again, it's not that hard to get me confused.
