What would a 1 Meg pot do compared to a 500k?

The title says it all. What would the diffence in tone be between the two? Would a 1 Meg pot be brighter or darker than a 500k? Is it okay to use 2 1Meg pots (1vol 1tone 3way) with passive pickups? Thanks!
