No, it doesn't sound like an 81. It's not bad, but not real high in output or very close in sound. I bought an H/S/S pickguard assembly from MusicYo with those rail pickups and had them installed in a friend's old Epiphone Strat copy a couple years ago. Going by memory, I'd say it's closer to maybe a JB.
