I used the Stew Mac stain on this because I too like darker fretboards. Works awesome, doesn't rub off on your fingers and wipes off of inlays easily. I applied it with a Q tip. Let it set for like 2 mins. and wiped off. The Fretboard feels the same as before it was applied so all it changed was the color.
I don't have a before/after pic...just an after.
As you can see the stain didn't turn the rosewood black like ebony but darkened it up nicely.
