I used the Stew Mac stain on this because I too like darker fretboards. Works awesome, doesn't rub off on your fingers and wipes off of inlays easily. I applied it with a Q tip. Let it set for like 2 mins. and wiped off. The Fretboard feels the same as before it was applied so all it changed was the color.

I don't have a before/after pic...just an after.




As you can see the stain didn't turn the rosewood black like ebony but darkened it up nicely.

did you have any problems with the inlays or binding getting darker because of the dye?

Do you have to do anything with the fretboard after its dried? oil it? etc?

I think Stew-Mac sells some kind of dye for rosewood...
