Higher gauge strings causes bridge to fail?

Hey,i want to change my string set on my guitar to a 010 gauge GHS strings.

Now I have 009 gauge strings on my guitar..
when i'll replace the strings i'll get a set-up.

Do I need to be afraid that the bridge will not carry the extra stress of a higher gauge?

won't be a problem if you have 3 springs from your trem to the claw. (assuming you have a floating trem)
2 springs might be fine too, though I can't really say for sure as my guitars both have 3 springs [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]
you will need to setup and re-adjust the trem though.

My language seems to not appear there.
I know what are springs in a all-around term,but with a guitar?
Well,i opened the back of my guitar..Those are the springs you have meant?

then everything should be fine. You will have to tighten the 2 screws that go into the body of the guitar to put a little more tension on the bridge, to counteract the additional stress of the heavier strings.

What a coincidence, I'm doing the exact same thing right now with even the same strings even but on my Ibanez RG. All I had to do was adjust the screws inside like etaeniura said and it worked out fine. Nice to have new strings every 3 or so months too!

Also be sure to read all the posts with the

and btw nazgul, as well as the tip finnman just gave ya, you should check out Easton's floyd rose setup videos, at least I caught a few nice tips and tricks on setting up a floating trem there.

You should be able to use any standard gauge of guitar strings without damaging your guitar. You'll need to set it up for them, but that's about it.
