Resistor between pots

Do all guitars need a resistor between the tone and volume pot?

You mean a capacitor, right? The capacitor is what causes the roll off of the highs when you turn the tone control.

Yup...so if I never use the tone pot to roll off the highs, then right now I don't really need one immediately, correct?

Yup, in fact there are those that say the tone is improved by not having a tone pot in the circuit.
