I had that exact problem with a Carvin I had. The problem was the shaft of the tuner wasn't sticking up far enough for me to get the string through. The solution was simple. I backed the thumbwheel as loose as it could go and I gently tapped the top of the post and it sank down even farther. I then tightened up the thumbwheel and the post started to raise. Suddenly a little chunk of string fell out of the hole. The string was keeping the post from rising as high as it could go. I would suggest you remove the tuner, dissasemble it and put it back on. Something is keeping it from coming all the way up.

I had the same problem on my Peavey.

Does sperzel make a set that has even heights all the way though? I dont understand why they couldn't.

why not just use a lock nut instead of that dumb invention?

[/ QUOTE ]Heh. I had that problem on my old Carvin DC400. It totally seized up and would not budge at all on the high E string. The locking pin was stuck inside and would not go down like it should when the thumbwheel was loosened. I tried smacking it with a hammer, throwing/smashing it on concrete, submerging it in WD40, but the damn thing is still stuck, just sitting around the house now. Carvin was nice enough to send me a replacement, as it is common for them to sometimes stick, but they'd never seen one like mine that would not come loose at all.

thanks for ALL the advice. I put the tuners back into their original spots and sat with it for an hour and just tried like hell to get the G thru. I did finally manage to let it work itself thru somehow and it is now strung. I appreciat eal lthe help, I did take the tuner apart and found no issues with it. I think the HS is just too thick and the shaft length is too small.

As far as using these over a lock nut, this is a KV2T, string thru, no lock nut needed and these are factory installed tuners, I would much rather have normal tuners.

Anyway, my problem is temp fixed, until the next string change.
