i thought tung oil and linseed oil were for the fretboard.....????

you´re right, i use linseed just for the boards
for the necks i use a special technical oilmix for woodtrade(bought it once for some furniture and discovered it serves a guitar-neck very well)
just googled a bit and found it here:

this is really great stuff

Use one of these for the detail work.

Aber du sprichst gutes Deutsch, in dem Satz ist nur ein einziger kleiner Fehler enthalten. Es hätte heißen müssen: Auf der "Zweihorn"-Seite.....
Kompliment

but i think there is similar stuff at yours too...
just wanted to show what i use

you can use linseed or tung oil on maple. it's wood, y'know?
you do raise an interesting point though, i've heard people use linseed on a fretboard, but danish on the back (a cheese danish, actually.. har har), and i've never understood why. anyway, linseed, tung, danish oil... whatev. it's not like either of the three are going to make much of a difference.

^ i just thought it was two different purposes, in addition to two different kinds of wood..... you don't really have as much hand contact on the fretboard as you do on the back of the neck......

..... but enough of that before one of the admins warns us to speak english in the message board..... !!

Re: Bolt-on mod - which tool would you use to do t

that's what i meant
linseed oil is way too oily on the back of the neck for my taste
just cant wipe it dry enough
everytime i touch that neck, i treated with linseed, i got oily fingers...
on the board (esp on ebony)it works perfect for me

great, i´m really astonished about your german, compared to your skills, i really wish i stayed at home with my bad english...
