  • standard neck vs. 3 piece

I was just going through the custom shop quote form and I was wondering if the 3 piece neck is a good idea for what I've got going. I'm thinking about a 24 fret, short scale, korina xtrr with a tune a matic. Would you guys recommend the 3 piece neck for stability's sake or do you think the standard neck will do just fine?

    Maple neck or korina?
With maple, a standard neck should do fine, but korina is basically maple-colored mahogany, which is softer. 3 piece works better for soft woods.

And BTW, go to EastonGuitars - there's a Crimson Swirl XTRR with tunamagic and stopbar, iron cross inlays, and I think it's short scale.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

yup I'm getting a 3-piece on the korina guitar I'm getting and Lee was a proponent of it as well.

i just got an 84 student rhoads
          it has the 3 piece
i surmise it has more sutain than any other guitar i own
the rhoads tips resonate like on no other rhoads i ever played
it can be from that neck construction, but i can be wrong too
