Computer audio interface

How do you guys plug your notebooks into the P.A.? I get ugly noises when I plug mine in. It is a lot easier to keep the practice songs in a media player instead of a stack of CDs or always burning a new CD to rehearse with. Help me please, the noise is driving me crazy. I think I am going to buy this. Tascam US-122 A buddy of mine who works at a local music shop swears up and down by it. He told me he would throw is a CD of Tommy Lee Drum samples. I heard the samples at his house they are amazing.
