Just did it on eZ-bOb. letmetellyou he was not amused. His signal dropped to half the regular output. Guess that battery clip I found in the bottom of my random-crap box didn't work quite as I expected it to. oh well.

You have to make sure the positive of one battery runs to the negative of the other, or vice-versa. You can't have two of the same polarity running to each other. I had to modify JG's directions for the battery clips I had, for example.
please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

Well now I'm in deep remorse because I threw the battery clip away, right after I molested it with a pair of tongs. I'm funny like that.

the SL1 I had was running at 18V and I liked alot, I'm going to swap the stock pups out of my XTRR and replace with EMGs, I think I'll set it up for 18V so I can compare and contrast with the EMGs in my RR1 and decide once and for all whether I like them better at 9 or 18

Hmmm, interesting. When I had the chrome 81 set put in my old Hamer, WarriorX7 asked if I wanted them wired up 18v, but I chose not to. Guess I'll need to try it now in either my LP with 85/81 or my Dinky with 85/60.

you mean eZ-bOb? He's all right. Sounds awesome, plays like buttah, looks like crap. Poor axe. Although in my defence, I haven't touched my Kramer Nightswan with any power tools.

eZ-bOb has personality. I'm very close to spraying him with funny colours. This will give him more personality. Then I will paint his EMG pickup pink. This will give him most personality. And you honestly can't beat most personality.

Ah, cool. I didn't realize that was eZ-bOb. Go for it!

I knew I could turn someone onto EMGs! My LPC showcase is soon to become and 18v setup. I was considering putting in passives, but 18v is cheaper and easier!

                        Re: 18v EMG system

I just installed the 18v system in my Ibanez 540Pro (that nobody here wants!!) and it kills just like my Charvel. What a difference. I had to install 1 battery in the trem cavity (there is a cut out where the backstop Tremsetter originally was) and I put the other one in the control cavity (it was really tight and it just fit). This guitar rips big. REALLY BIG. BTW.... its no longer for sale.

So is this the right way (using battery clips, of course)?

Also, I haven't studied such things in a while. What would happen if you wired them in parallel, like this?

If you wire them in parallel you effectively double the battery life

Your diagrams are accurate. Series gives you 18 volts. Parallel gives you 9 volts with roughly double the battery life.
