COMPLETELY blocking-off a floyd

I have a project guitar with a totally cheesy floyd knock-off. I read the section about blocking the floyd from being able to pull-up...Would the same be true from the long side (running with the springs?)
Could you just block-off the floyd in both directions (insuring the bridge is level, of course) and treat the guitar just like a fixed bridge?
Am I missing something here?

As far as blocking the FLoyd from going both ways (heh heh) yeah, you can do that. And you should pretty much be able to treat it like a fixed bridge with the advantage of the fine tuners. You might notice a subtle change in tone as well with the extra contact surface. Satriani has a guitar with the Edge completely blocked. So if the master of tone likes it, I'm sure there are others, too.

Simple. Follow the "Blocking Your Floyd" sticky post above (written by a complete genuis, by the way), and just cut another block of wood to fit in the back part of the cavity (as you look at the rear of the guitar).
A piece of hard wood maybe 1.5" wide x .5" high and thickness to fit should work great.

Lol, I wrote that pretty poorly (I wish I could say I use English as a second language but I would be lying!)

Now that I think about it, I am not even sure what I was getting at! I know that to block the trem from pulling-up you need a block between the trem block and the body on the same side as the springs/retainer...I guess I was asking if I would use a second block between the trem block and the other end of the pocket) I guess that sentence did little to accomplish that point [img]/images/graemlins/crazy.gif[/img]...

Yeah, you are on the right track!

Make sure you leave a spring in it OR move the ground wire that's probably on the claw to the bridge itself.
