• Charvel Fusion+ with a OFR

Hi guys, I received a OFR for mine Fusion+ but I have a problem. Overall the bridge fits nicely but the string lock screws are a bit too long, so the bridge cannot go fully back because the screws are pressed against the body. Is it possible to use shorter screws? I've tried the screws from the schaller but their too chunky. Or do I have to remove some wood

    Thanks in advance

Codex, if I understood your problem correctly, you may need to get the longer block. Sounds like the guitar is non-recessed. I believe the correct block is 42mm.

But if I get a longer block the screws will stick out even more right?

His problem is that the locking bolts are stiicking out past the route, towards the butt end of the axe.

Only solution for that is re-routing or living with the limited travel

The block that I now have is about 35mm.

Zerb is right. You are using a OFR in a Schaller rout.

              FLOYD ROUT

              SCHALLER ROUT
              750xl, 88LE, AT1, Roswell Pro, SG-X, 4 others...
Stilletto Duece 1/2 Stack, MkIII Mini-Stack, J-Station, 12 spaces of misc rack stuff, Sonar 4, Event 20/20, misc outboard stuff...

Why do I still want MORE?

That's nice, so the OFR's base plate is(35mm)ok?

Codex, you´re on the wrong track if I understood you right.

Again, the problem is not the Floyd, but the rout...enlarge the rout or live with it... Or put in a Schaller trem (in that sense it IS the Floyd, but..)

Ahhh.... I see. Codex, disregard what I said. Your problem is with the routing of your guitar, not the block on the OFR. Sorry for the confusion. Now, go get the router.

Besides the Schaller will a Floyd Rose Low Profile replace the JT580?
                      Just one more guitar!

Hehe so I just need to remove some wood

Now I got about 6mm space by the baseplate, that is just normal right?

                        Thanks for the input

Re: Charvel Fusion+ with a OFR

                          No.

The easiest fix for this is to purchase a Schaller or Schaller-style Floyd Rose and save the OFR for another project. (I normally save them for top-mounted tremolo applications - less headache for me) The string lock screws on the Schallers are shorter and are essentially what was on the Fusions to begin with. For a cheaper solution you could purchase shorter string lock screws that will fit a Floyd Rose (floyds and schallers have different diameters of string lock screws)

Another fix would be to re-route the tremolo cavity, but not at the location you've indicated. You indicate that you would extend the route deeper at a point behind the pivot points. This will do you no good. You need to remove the wood underneath the string lock screws, where you were having the problem.

Codex, they do make shorter string lock screws for Schaller/Floyd Rose II bridges. Not sure about compatibility with the OFR, as long as the thread pitch is the same you should be good.
