I use a small palm contour sander which allows me to follow the neck profile quite good and get the most of the neck done quite quickly.. recommended, although you still finish off by hand using finer grit.

I found the book of Martin Koch "Building Electric Guitars" the best so far, He has a site http://www.buildyourguitar.com/, but his procedure for tung oil is not on it. If interested, I can scan the page for you, just let me know!

+1 what pebber said. I use my orbital to get down to the sealer, then I start taking the sealer off by hand.
