Actually, the 89's split version comes very close to the 85, but isn't one completely.
You took too much, man. Too much. Too much.

Re: Which EMG for neck, and which for bridge?

Hey guys, thanks for the info. I just got my RR1, and found out it has a J80 neck and J90C bridge, with active Jackson electronics.

I'm thinking of keeping this guitar as is, end saving my EMG for another project.

Do you think I should keep this RR1 as-is, or should these Jackson pickups go into the trash and put in EMGs?

The Jackson pickups sound fat in this guitar. Most of my guitars are thin and bright, so this seems like a good contrast.

If you like the sound of the guitar I recommend against the change even if I am a really big EMG fan. I have some guitars with DiMarzio and even Guild pickups, but I like the way they sound in that specific guitar... And like you said it is a nice change.

But if you like EMGs a lot and this guitar is going to be your main guitar why not? Go for it!

Actually, I've never owned an EMG loaded axe. I have an EMG81, but it's still in its box waiting for a project. I thought this would be that project, but now that I know what pickups I have, I'm not so sure any more.
