I normally reserve the single coil routes in my guitars for single coil sized humbuckers. But I'm looking for something a bit different for my 375 project. What do you guys like and why?

Re: what are your favorite single coils?
Bill Lawrence L280S, because it's a real SC sound without the hum.
Duncan Vintage Rails, because it's the brightest sounding rail design I've yet heard. But DiMarzio's Cruiser is pretty close.
The EMG-S is really good if you want to go with actives.please don't put it into words, 'cause I fear what you're thinking

My favorite true single coil neck pickup is the Rio Grande Muy Grande Strat pickup. Juat a beautiful, full sounding strat sound...terrific stuff!
Lately though the Cool Rails has been impressing me...enough so that both of my guitars are sportin them now.

Dimarzio Virtual Vintage. Its a silent single. I also like the EMG SA. 60hz hum sucks when using high gain and singles.
The Dimarzio HS-3 and YJM are both stacked single coils. They sound great, are silent and still sound like single coil pickups.
Another good pickup is the Evans Eliminator. Beck used them in the 80's. They kill.

Re: what are your favorite single coils?
I have the Carvin singles in my stratobastard (with the model 1 neck), and I love them. 3 pickups wired in a MOT guard for 100 bucks, can't beat it with a stick. A little less treble than a fender, but with actual mids. Fralins might sound better, but not on my budget!Courtesy, Integrity, Self-control, Perseverance, Indomitable Spirit

Re: what are your favorite single coils?
The only guitar I've got with a single coil at the moment is my Schecter 7-string... a DiMarzio Blaze single in the neck (this is the middle pup on the Ibanez 7s), with a Duncan Custom 7 in the bridge... this is a fantastic pup combo!
For regular 6-strings, I've heard the DiMarzio Cruiser and Fast Track 1 are supposed to be excellent for Strat sounds. I've actually got a Cruiser neck, a couple Fast Tracks 1 and a Chopper laying around that need to be put into some projects eventually. Too bad I haven't heard them yet. Two of the projects I've scrapped for now. I'm just waiting on WarriorX7 to finish my Dinky/Carvin snakeskin project so I can put in a Fast Track 1 and Chopper with a Norton in the bridge.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

I've got Fast Track 1's (N/M) in my Model 1 w/Fast Track 2 in the bridge. The FT1's are VERY nice - clean, warm, quiet."You are so stupid that I am surprised you have not collapsed into a singularity of stupidity." - Anon

Re: what are your favorite single coils?
Seymour Duncan Alnico II Pro, your choice of flat or staggered. Very warm and musical sounding. Not as bright at a standard Strat, but to me that is a good thing. What some call jangly, I call thin and brittle. I use a reverse wound, reverse polarity one in the middle position of my Soloist, between a JB Jr and a Distortion bridge humbucker. Position 4 gives me that wonderful quack.
I used to have a Strat with a Fender Lace Sensor red in the bridge. Man, that was a mean pickup.
