HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT FOR AN EMG 81

Just installed a EMG 81 in the bridge position. How high do you adjust the pick up? How close do I bring it to the strings?

I would start about an 1/8th or 3/16ths from the bottom of the string and vary it from there according to your ears.

EMGs have such little string pull that you can put it up as close to the strings as possible without any problems. In fact, EMG recommends just that. I'd say start very close to the strings and if you want less output from it, bring it back down.

Mine is as far down as it goes. It's like 1 cm below the pickup ring.

Yea, I would asy thats to low. Thanks for the info guys. I raised mine up just so the strings dont hit it when I pull up with the Floyd. Sounds great and not in the way either.
