there is a slight difference but it also depends cause different "licsensed" trems will sometimes have a slightly different string spacing. F or TB spaced pups are just spaced a hair wider to line up with OFR specs on the string spacing.
"Well, according to the Dimarzio site an F spaced pup should measure just about 2" inches from the center of the first pole piece to the last, and that's what this pup measures. I'm going by that."
I'm not sure what changed, but older Duncans sound better than the newer ones. Something must have changed. The most extreme example is when I got some new Alnico II pro buckers, and they sounded NOTHING like the old ones I have. I've noticed the same thing with JB's and DD's.
Cool to know!
I have a JB in my SL2H, a new one obviously.
And the old one is in the ESP Mirage (pretty similar to the SL2H)... But the ESP has alot thicker strings, and is really downtuned.
I'd like to have thinner strings and tune it in E... but I need it for the band! One day I'll do a comparison though!

i've never used or found a trembucker JBJ. i'd love to get my hands on one but no luck so far. all my tremspaced JBs are newer. the only JBJ i have is regular spaced.
Definitely NOT a Trembucker, thhe long-legged gibson baseplate is a dead giveaway, Trembucker bobbins won´t fit those plates w/o moodification.... Duncan Trembucker baseplaetes also have 3 holes in the ears and not 1
Thanks Zerberus. I bid on it (RobRR too). I don't think any JBJ's were ever trem-spaced. They were before the days of F-spaced pickups, right?
And as you hang out on the SD forums a lot, what's the concensus over there - do older JB's sound better? And, do TB4's sound the same as SH4's or is there a difference?

Many find the older ones "sweeter", but also asdmit that it may be a psyche thing... some also say the TB´s sound different, but same thing, minimal at best.....The MJ winds DO seem to have a special mojo, though... many actually go to th CS specifically ot have MJ or Seymour wind a JB... so there´s gotta be something to it...
And then there are nutcases like DSS, Odie and yours truly that think the JB sucks ass unless it´s being used as a Neck pickup, where it becomes "One Pup to Rule Them All"... especially an MJ-wound JB like mine
