If you are installing a single passive humbucker setup and you don't have any tone controls it seems that you just stick to a single 500kOhm pot correct? What is the difference if you go higher or lower in resistance values?
500K is right in the middle as far as the linear amount of tone buffering goes. A 250K will have a lot going on, but won't cover the range. A 1 meg will sound almost like an on-off switch as far as the linear amount of audible tone in the range.
Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.
