I have a couple Charvel bodies that have screws in the pickup cavities, with remnants of solder. My question is, does soldering a wire to this spot take the place of soldering your ground to the spring claw? This is probably way easier than I'm making it out to be.... No, those don't replace the need for soldering spring claw to ground, you still need to do that. The screws in the pickup cavities and the volume/tone cavities with the ground wires going to them are for additional noise reduction. The cavities usually are lined with a conductive paint to help with shielding, and those screw taps are links to ground.
