holy shit that's the best work I've ever seen man.

          immense respect!

I did a first-time home refinish on a Telecaster this past summer which was a great experience. I just dived into it, and for anyone here getting intimidated by how fantastic a job was done on this Rhoads V, it all comes from practice.

just start somewhere with some project and read up all you can. it is doable and you learn a shitload with every refinish you do.

I'm not a real V fan, but I would play that 'till my fingers bleed. That is one kick ass looking axe you built.

Mark - that's an incredible-looking piece of work on your part! A definite big congrats to you.

I just stumbled on to this thread and I was wondering if you could answer a couple of questions from a non-woodworker.

                          1) I thought I've heard of wood putty before. If that exists, why did you use bondo? Is it more durable?

                          2) When you made the neck pocket impression, did you do that quickly before the bondo set? I was wondering how you ended up not getting the bondo to stick to the taped-up neck and messing up the pocket.

Anyways, an amazing piece of work and very interesting and informative thread! You are a talented man.

Not too shabby dude. Looks like I got some inspiration for my roope tribute axe I've been planning.
