• Rosewood or Ebony

I am going to order a alder bodied Charvel. I already have a Bullseye with a maple board so I am thinking maybe Rosewood or Ebony. Which would sound better with the alder body?

Re: Rosewood or Ebony

I would do the Rosewood over Ebony. To me Ebony is a real dead sounding wood. I prefer a maple neck with alder. I never liked any guitars with Ebony. If you want to try a killer combo try a Basswood with maple top body and a all maple top.

Hmm, with alder? Go with rosewood (but I love ebony). You can't go wrong either way

Yep, ebony.
Ebony adds to the sustain of the body and a smooth feel.

I personally do not care how it was built as long as it is a good playing/sounding instrument.

Toss up, based on tone/feel, IMHO. Personally, I'd decide more based on the guitar's finish.

I'd go with rosewood if you're wanting tonal variety. Ebony and maple are equally dense, thus have the same bright tone.
