static

fellas,
i have a charvel import with a volume and two tone knobs. I am getting static when ever i use them. How do i get rid of that? I've had this guitar since 87 if that makes a difference. [img]/images/graemlins/help.gif[/img]

What you are referring to as "static" is probably just dirty pots (I try never to assume anything). Run to your local electronics shop (Rat Shack will do), and pick up some pot cleaner (sometime seen as "Color TV Tuner Cleaner"). Give each pot a shot or two, from within the hole located at the back of the pot, and work the pot back and forth. If, after a while, that doesn't do the trick, just change them out with new ones. Sometimes, they are a hopeless case, but many times, it's a little dirt that works out, easily with help from the cleaner. Let us know how you did, and good lcuk.
