I want to install an EMG 81 in my Roswell, and if I'm not mistaken it already has a stereo jack...?

Yeah, I think so too... there's one "tip" that doesn't have anything soldered to it... if it were mono, it wouldn't have that, right!?

usually stero jacks are used when you have some type of 'active' electronics. Maybe someone disconnected that and went passive?

Yeah Joe, but this is the way it came from the factory... maybe to allow a smooth change to EMG's or other active electronics.

Now I gotta find out which cable goes where... I don't know if it's the same as EMG's jacks...? Can anyone chime in? Maybe someone else has changed pickup to an EMG in a Roswell?

That jack will work same as the style shipped with emgs. Connect your emg negative (black) battery wire to that un-used tab on the jack.

FYI, what the extra tab on a stereo jack does (when using a normal 'mono' 1/4" guitar plug) is to connect the black battery wire to the ground of the guitar (the other black wire in your case). This acts like a switch so that your battery is connected when you plug the cord into the guitar, and dis-connected when you unplug the guitar. Important to remember to unplug your guitar when using any battery powered active electronics in order to save the battery from being drained.

Thanks alot! [img]/images/graemlins/toast.gif[/img] I'm pretty lost when it comes to wiring and stuff, I know that you need a stereo jack in order for the power to be cut when unplugging, but that's about it! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I use (switchcraft) stereo jacks for replacements just because they seem hold the plug a little better, that added part for the ring seems to make a slightly better fit.
