I agree with Sully leave it alone there a enough guitars out there with the profile you would like. Why don't you( people that like to mod out guitars ) just buy guitars that you like the feel of rather then Destroy a guitar. When you FUCK it up its forever so sell it to someone then would love it and buy or build a guitar more to your liking.

If it's a SD, leave it alone for originality.

If it's a recent RR1, leave it alone because - despite what your hands may think they feel - it actually has the same neck profile as an SL1.

In other words, just leave it alone.

I thought this thread was about loosing weight. I guess the next discussion will be about thinning hair!

Its his guitar, not yours. He has no obligation to society as a whole to "keep it vintage" or whatever. He's talking about sanding the neck a bit, not hacking up the body or anything.

I mean its definitely not something I would do, I would sell it and get something closer to my liking, but there is no call for reaming the guy out. At least he asked how to do it right.

I would suggest..tho i'm not talking from any experince here..that you sand it too you r own tastes...sand it abit...give it a squeeze...see if it feels too fat on one side or not..decide where you wanna lose the excess wood...sand again....squeeze...ajust...etc

                            Re: thinning necks?

one thing that i've often noticed is that a guitar neck feels different when it's not mounted on a body compared to when it's strung up. i know it sounds retarded, but maybe it's just me.

and yeah, it's certainly his guitar to do whatever the hell he wants to it.
