About Binding?

I've always wondered how they put binding on a neck/head stock? What does it look like in an unmounted state??

Basically just how it looks on the guitar... rectangular shaped piece of material on a long roll basically. Its installed by routing out a channel around the areas to be bound, then glued in, sanded/trimmed, and finished.

And if it is aged, it feels wonderful.
