adding 1 spring= stronger feel?

If I added 1 spring to my RR's floyd, (making it 4 total) would it make the strings tighter when i riff hard? Im using 3 springs now, using 11guage strings tuned one whole step down.

Yes. I used 4 or 5 springs in my Floyds for years because I preferred the stiffer feel. It'll also make it harder to push down on the bar, but you'll get used to it.

thats fine, i just always felt i needed more "stiffness" in my guitars with floyds. i can never do fast riffing as well on them

Do you "up" the string gauge as well?

You don't need to change the string gauge. You just loosen the claw screws to compensate for the added spring. The actual string tension stays the same, but you get a stiffer feel because there are more springs to stretch and they are starting from a more "closed" position.
