replacing an EMG with a passive

got the Jackson COW 7 string sig model

want to replace the EMG with a DiMarzio Evo7, are the EMG's bigger or smaller than passives? will i need to route or just get a special pickup ring?

on a side note i've decided to get some fret inlays added to the COW as its just too much of a pain (mostly aural pain from moving to the wrong fret!!) playing that guitar on a dark stage

I could be wrong but you should be fine with the orinigal pickup ring and shouldn't have to do any routing
