Question about dinkies and push/pull shaft length

Guys,

Based on my looking around, it looks like push/pull pots can be had with a long or short shaft. Obviously, the short shaft version will fit a Dinky cavity (SL2H, SL1, DK2M), but what about the long shaft? *Too* long?

Long shaft works with a Les Paul with the control plate in the cavity.And some hollow bodied guitars

Well, I'm just going to order the short one, even though in the pics I've seen, the long ones *seem*, for some reason, to be of better quality. Thanks guys....
