I'm just wondering, if I had a Brass bridge/trem how would it sound compared to steel?

+1 I have actually put Stainless steel saddles on a brass bridge to brighten the tone a bit. Kinda of a mix of two worlds

Did Floyd Rose ever make a full on brass OFR? Would there be any reason why it wouldn't be a good thing design wise? I know the knife edges wouldn't be brass, but the saddles and the block of brass seems like it would be good.

I just changed the brass trem on a maple/maple neck parts mutt to an old Mighty Mite steel trem and it turned out the other way around. The sound became fuller and warmer. The brass trem sounded brittle compared to steel trem so I assume the wood plays a big role in this too. I have no idea of the body wood.

After this experience I am ready to change all my brass trems to steel, which would be quite an effort as these things don´t grow on trees.

Any opinions are welcome.

Most brass parts have been clear coated, except for the very early brass bridges made on the early Charvels. Were talking like '78-'81 time frame. The newer brass bridges, such as on the newer Charvels and Wayne's are clear coated to prevent tarnishing.

OFR´s are steel, right? I thought Ping made a selling point of the block being brass on their new top unit.

And I've always heard the Ping Floyds were cheap crap. Here's some info I found on it recently.
