the EMG HZ's are made in the USA bro
    read from EMG,
Thoroughly "road-tested," HZ pickups were formerly available only on B.C. Rich, ESP, Jackson and Schecter instruments. They're handmade in California by the leader in pickup technology, with precision and attention to detail.
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

The EMG Selects were indeed Korean. I put a pair in my Dinky HX for awhile... they were decent output but dark and bassy sounding.
The ones in Troy's guitar were not the Select models. I believe they were HZs with exposed pole pieces which I've never seen on EMG's site. They might just be a Korean version.

These are EMG S-1 or S-2's (you are correct...not Selects)
Would they be good as a neck pick-up?, I was actually considering it for a Strat H-S-S...with an HZ Hum....seems to make sense...
          Cheers...

those are single coils , this guitar has humbuckers. i bet it is the same ones that are in the esp guitars now. This one actually lists the pickups as selects HZ but they are different.

Ibanez, axl and others have emg designed pickups I am sure these are build in the same place. A guitar for $129 is not going to have 2 pickups that sell for almost $200 in it. Call them select or designed it is the same as Seymour Duncan and the Duncan Designed and The Performer pickups. It's just a label.

Yeah..sorry ....The EMG HZ H1's are hums with black or silver exposed poles....I was just wondering how the singles sounded...any thoughts?

By the way...you can get some real gems if you look...I bought a really ugly cloth covered pickguard for $15 because it had an EMG and 2 "normal" strat singles...when I got it the 2 "normal" pups turned out to be older DP117's !!.... $200 bucks worth of pickup for $15..and an ugly pickguard! lol

I'm not sure of the model... it came from a set (HSS) along with some other goodies I got off E-Bay for next to nothing.
No markings other than MIGHTYMITE on the front.
But I must say, it's everything any of my JB's or old Schallers are.
That gives you an idea of where my taste in pickups runs.
Good luck, and let us know how she sounds.

Oh, the DK2M I scored from Alvin has two Dragon Fire Humbuckers in it, and they absolutely kick ass!

I still somebody already cited them, but I've a pair of Bill lawrence L500R and XL, but vintage NOS from the 70s, paid...I think 50$$$.

I mounted them on my Bich and they are astonishing, the response to all the frequencies are over the top. Plus, with the chrome cases they look Xtra cool.

I have tried a Few Swineshead pickups warthog and venoms, very good they are cheap over here UK not much more than kent armstrong's, which imho stink...the coolrails at least...

I also have a GFS Crunchy Rails/Crunchy PAF I think it's a crunchy paf a lot like a 59, the rails pickup is pretty dmam brutal...

The Venom's in My custom Ran are just awesome, suit me a to a T, they are still quite smooth, even though they are ceramic, clean up quite well too...

The Warthog is a pretty nice pickup very VH style....
