EMG Turbo Booster with EMG HZ pickups

Does it only access the 9v battery when the knob is pulled out?

Or will I drain the battery by leaving the guitar plugged in even if the knob isn't pulled out?

Can't say for sure, I think I wired mine wrong cuz it's drained the battery sitting in the case
