I just got a new charvel and when I plug in the cord I get a really bad hum/noise out of my XXX Combo. I plugged in another guitar and the noise went away. This eleminates the amp as the problem. Is this probably a bad input jack. It seems when I push the cord/jack a little the noise goes away. Is this something I can fix or will it need parts? Any help will be appreciated

what I suspect has happened, is that something bent the center
contact of the phone jack away from the guitar plug so that when
you plug it in it doesn't make contact>
You should be able to access the female plug and bend the center arm
/contact back toward the plug...'scuse lousy art.

I found the problem. It was not the input jack at all. The grounding wire was not soldered on to the pot but instead had been wrapped arounf a screw and screwed into the wood. Very lame on Charvels part I took the back off another Charvel and saw the diffrence. I unscrewed the wire and touched it to the pot and away went the hum. Piss Poor workmenship.

That would do it alright. Are all other grounds properly soldered to
the pot (star ground technique: all grounds terminate at single point)?
For that matter, how's the shielding?
