Anyone know where to get prototypes made?

I've got a few ideas for guitar controls (knobs & switches) but don't have the tools or materials to build them myself.

Anyone know of a reputable place I can have build the patent submission protos without them stealing/copying the designs?

Or should I play it safe and Newcenstein them out of salvage parts?

When filing for a patent, all you have to do is submit your designs with all the specs, drawings and details on paper.
You don't have to build it to file.
Once you've filed your paperwork, then you can safely hunt for a company to build it for you.
Just wait until you get a Pat. Pending confirmation from the patent office.

Of course, before I go through that time and expense, anyone got a link to an online catalog of Switchcraft parts? I've been to the site and looked through a catalog at work, and found a switch that would work with some modifications, but cannot seem to find the ones that are commonly found in guitars.

To make it simple: does anyone know if anyone already makes a 5-position switch in a Gibson-style 3-way toggle format? I'd rather buy it than build it

What about the gibson les paul black beauties with 3 humbuckers. I saw a thread on another board and a review that said something 5 way toggles .

After looking some more I think this guy was smoking crack.

That definitely sounds to me like he's got a Custom Shop LP with a 5-way blade, since he describes the switch positions as going from "closest to headstock" to "nearest the butt".

You can't get that type of switch in a standard Gibson-style round 3-way toggle hole. You have to cut wood to do that. My idea is based on the fact that the switch will move up/down as well as left/right, and all 5 positions (including Center) will be different connections.
