Changing strings, etc w/Floyd

ok, i'm sure this has been discussed to death and i really did look through past posts to find the answer first. please excuse my ignorance, but i'm new to floyds.

can someone answer me a) how do you lock and or unlock a floyd. and b) how do you change strings correctly?

help a newbie, PLEASE!!! before i fuk something up.
