I have an EVH that is humming through the amp when the volume knob is turned up all the way. I looked at pickup wires and both of the ground wires are soldered to the top of the pot. On my other EVH they soldered to the 3rd prong on the pot. could this be the problem?

No in a single hum (and by EVH im assuming its a Charvel) guitar it odesnt matter if the actually ground is used for ground or for output. Youll get sound out of it either way. ( swapping the green and black wires on a duncan pup for example) If the guitar is buzzing when the volume is turned all the way up. It soulnde like the pot is bad. replace it and the buzz should go away.

Could also be a weak ground on your jack.
A bad pot shouldn't affect whether the ground is good or bad, since all the ground wants is a piece of metal.
Add a ground from the pot to the trem claw.I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

Are you facing your computer when the buzzing occurs? Could be RF interference.
Does it stop when you touch the strings/bridge/hardware?
Does it only buzz when you're touching the strings/bridge/hardware?
Does the amp buzz when the guitar is unplugged? Could be the cable, or if you've got anything between the guitar and amp (wah, volume pedal, etc).
Does it buzz when the light in the room is out?I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
