If you think about it, relief, saddle height and intonation in that order is pretty much a no-brainer. You only have to do each once then, instead of screwing around and going back and forth.

BTW, be sure and have your guitar tuned to pitch BEFORE you start any of this. If you have a floyd guitar, be sure that you are tuned to pitch and the trem is at your preferred angle. Otherwise you're going to be in hell. use new strings too, intonating old strings is a waste of time.

One other tip - use a GOOD tuner for setting intonation. Most pedal tuners are bunk for setting intonation, get a strobostomp at minimum if you really want everything to be accurate. They are expensive but you'll be amazed how off your 'perfectly set' guitars were when you check intonation with the strobo.

Did you see these. Pretty cool

Most tuning and studio musicians/technicians around the world agree that the Peterson VS-R StroboRack Tuner is the preferred rack mounted digital tuner! This tuner’s cast chassis makes it a workhorse you can count on for performance after performance, and its Neutrik brand connectors assure a rock solid connection every time. Connect your favorite BNC light and latching type foot pedal to enjoy remote muting capabilities as well as rear illumination in even the darkest of environments.

          +1 Good one!

Per Dan Erlewine " I like Fender's factory setup procedure" as referenced in the Dan's book "How to Make Your Electric Guitar Play Great"
          1. Preset intonation
          2. Relief/Action
          3. Adjust Trem level (for trems)
          4. Intonation

But maybe in the meantime you can tell me what order Dan prefers.
Sorry, got back late but I see other members helped out.

Thanks for all the replies! I think I have a plan of action now. I did get as far as the measurements. I go to adjust the truss rod and the wrench I have is too big. The guitar didn't come with one either, so I ordered one from Allparts.
              Cheers!

Remember, with a truss rod, make very small adjustments, and let the guitarsit for a few hours at least to let it settle.
