Re: elixer strings
Gore makes the poly-whatever it is in floss, also Goretex used in jackets & other outerwear, etc. So?
The "purity" issue is baloney - at some point putting a pickup on a guitar to hear anything other than the acoustic vibration was "unpure". I'm glad we didn't listen to those people. WHY did we first amplify? Practicality - more volume was necessary. After that, we discovered all sorts of ways to mutate the sound with EQ, distortion, Reverb, and a lot more. Unpure? Who cares? *I* like these sounds, and I'm keepin' 'em.
So, if it's practical for you to use a string with Elixir's characteristics, use 'em. Even at their cost, they've been on the market a while, so SOMEBODY likes them. If something bugs you about them, don't use them. I *hate* changing strings on several guitars every month so I use them, but to each his own; there are still lots of people who only play acoustic guitars, too.
