I read the posts on blocking and string gauges and they helped I think, if I understood them correctly But I still have a few questions.
Ok, I remember now why I disliked changing string and changing tuning with a Floyd. Can anyone share some tips/ tricks?
1.Tuning. How do you guys tune guitars with Floyds on them? Do you loosen all locking nuts first, then try to tune. Do you loosen the nut on only 2 strings at a time? I have tried every which way and nothing works well. I am talking major tuning that the fine-tuners can’t handle.
Do you tune by a particular pattern like tune the E, A, then back to E, A, D , then E A D G, etc. Or do you start at the top and bottom E and E, then A and G working your way in? No matter what I do the string I just tuned is out of tune as soon as I touch another string AAHHHHHHRRRRGGGGG.
2.Down tuning. I am dropping the guitar from standard tuning all the way down to B. I imagine I will have to adjust the Floyd. Do I adjust the springs, or adjust the level via the allen screws at the front of the floyd?
3. I am unclear on setting intonation. Will I have to do this when I drop from standard to B? If so what do I do?
Sorry for all the questions, these Floyds always drive me crazy I know we have a lot of experts out there. Any tips or tricks would be appreciated.
