cleaning a rustty floyd

does anyone have any tips for me?

the biggest problem is that the joint one some of the saddles is rusted still.

you know how you have the forked part of the saddle that the allen screw lockes down (intonation screw)- and then you have the block that holds the string. and the block is suppossed to move up and down while the screw holds the front section to the base plate.

i need to break the rust and get these saddles moving agian.

any ideas?

WD40 to the rescue!! It'll likely do the trick for ya.

What I like to do is soak the parts in a jar of kerosene or WD-40. That will loosen the "joint" up and after you move them back and forth for a bit they'll be free and clear.

there is a product called BREAK FREE it is a lube and metal preservitive this stuff is great for loosening rusted parts Its in the hunting supplies at your local Wal-Mart.I use it on guitars and automatic weapons.

WD-40 worked for me when i had to clean the rust and crud off the JT6 trem on my Lightning sky Strat.
