Butchering pickups?

Ok, anyone here ever replaced the screwpoles in a humbucker? Any recommendations or ideas as to what the metal content should be? I doubt brass screws would be a good idea, since brass is not affected by magnets, but what about stainless steel or other solid-steel and composite metals that the magnet can work with, but in varying degrees?
