dimarzio super 3 in alder vs a tone zone?

I tried the tone zone and really thought it was too bassy/flabby overall
anyone here know about the super 3?
i need a tight non flabby hot pup that is not too spikey in the treble with a real SINISTER/MENACING rhythm tone
i like the duncan distortion for that but it lacks bottom end for me
it would go into a DK-1

i have a duncan custom and it is not sinister enough for me.
i really like the old savatage tone that criss got
big,sinister with a smooth lead tone
any idea what he used?

I've never used a Super 3 in an Alder body before, but it sounds great in Mahogany and Basswood.
Great mids and bottom end... not bright at all.
The SD Custom Custom is pretty tasty as well.

yeah i love the duncan CC's for the older EVH tone
really nails it no prob for me with my plexi
but in this one jackson i need more attitude and mayhem

I have a SD3 in my alder guitar.
Sounds fine and sinister if you like to describe it that way .
It has a lot of flavour but I think it has a bit of treble as well but you can dim it down if you want. It is well belanced.
So, my verdict: It goes really well in an alder body.
I would recommend it to you.

thanks i will get one and test it out
the tone i describe as sinister lurks in the emg 81's mids/treble but that pup is too cold overall and i hate actives

The X2N has a flat sound and the wood of the guitar will come through its high gain.
