Floyd Nut Sizes

I know that Floyd nuts come in different widths, but do they come with different hiegths as well. I was puting a guitars togeather a while back, and had swapped a black nut for a chrome nut. The neck was a toothpaste logo neck and when i started to string it up I noticed a lot of buzzing. I soon realized the chrome nut (I believe came from a DK2) was not tall enough. I swapped it back with black one that came with it and everything was fine. This was a first for me, maybe I have just been lucky.

Can anyone shed any light on this for me.

usually a new nut comes with 3 different size shims just for that reason.

i don't know if different companies make different (hight) size nuts or not.
