  • Pic Request: Swapping EMG pups in a different order.

After hearing a lot about how great the EMG 81/85 sounds in reverse (85/81). I deicided to try it out. I'm a little edgy about taking out the pups though. Does someone have any tips? How do I go about taking out the pups?

PREFERABLY: Pictures of the pickup cavity with the EMG removed (would be great!!)

    Thanks a lot!

its very easy. Take your strings off. The unscrew the 4 screws that hold the pickup and trim ring to the body. Then pull up until you can reach in and disconnect the wiring harness from the pick up. Repeat for the second pick up and reinstall

Let me know how it sounds, I'm kinda curious.

I did it. I LOVE IT!!!! The cleans are clear and defined with a lot of headroom. The distortion thick, crunchy, yet very defined, without getting muddy. Everything is TIGHT! I love it!

EDIT: I'm using the 18V mod aswell

How did you wire the batteries for the 18 volt mod? I cant seem to find any info on that.

Hey dodge, that was a nice helpful post

So in return, check out these instructions:

They're for a bass but I'm sure it's the same for 6 stringers...

Hahha, it's easy, just cut the wire and add a clip.
