EMG 18 volt, weird question!

I wanted to know the following. Since I'm having a custom Rico with the EMG 18 volt mod (dual battery box too) done, I needed to know if there's a way of "testing" that this IS the 18 volt mod and that they didn't wire it in parallel by mistake.

What I'm saying is, is there a simple test to determine if the batteries are wired in series, like:

-If you remove one of the batteries the guitar WON'T sound anymore since you broke the circuit (if they are in series). If you remove the battery and the guitar still sounds, it means it's in parallel.

Something like that? Need to know...

if you have a voltmeter thing you can test the circuits

If batteries are in series and you remove one, the guitar WONT sound.

If they are in parallel, you'll get a double battery life and the guitar will sound like when wired for one 9V battery.
