i'm installing a J-50BC into my fernandes w/sustainer, but i don't know what wire is what.

lil' help?

-Black is hot
-green is ground
-shield is ground
-red and white are for coil splitting. Just tape the red and white together if you're using it as a humbucker without coil splitting.

And to add to Dave's expertise:

Sometimes when used with other pickups (Duncans, Dimarzios, Lawrence, etc.) the Jackson pickup will be out of phase. You'll know cause the sound will be thin and bright. If that bothers you switch the black and green wires around, making the green the hot and black the ground.
