• Busted a nut - replacement?

Okay, it's not actually busted, but the high E slot looks like it has been cut too far down and buzzes when playing the open string. Can anyone confirm if a GraphTech PT-6700-00 (for Carvin 7 string) will work on a DR7? The dimensions look about the same to me.

get some super glue, a pencil and some sandpaper. run the pencil over the paper to build up some graphite powder, drop some super glue in the nut slot, and drop the powder in the slot. when it cures, you can recut it. much easier!

Cool, I'll give it a shot. I mean, what's the worst that could happen? (Besides gluing my fingers together, of course.)

you shouldn't have any problem at all, it's a really easy fix. when you recut it, make sure that you cut down, so that the string isn't laying flat in the bed; it needs to have fallaway in there. if you have excess glue and mess on the top of the nut, you can just scrape it right the hell off with a razor blade.

Thank you very much; you saved me $10 and a lot of time! This worked out very well and now I can play an open C chord without the shrill buzzing. Scraping off the excess on the top of the nut was really easy too. Whew!
